History of Troop 120

The Foundation of Frontier Girls Troop 120

Frontier Girls recognizes not only the ability of women to excel in the career of their choice, but more importantly, the continued need for strong and loving mothers in the home.  As long as women bear the children and influence their early years, as long as the children and men of her family love and respect her, they are the most potent force in developing the kind of world and the kind of community in which we wish to live.

Our Founder, Jennifer Foraker, embraced this same idea for not only her daughter, but other girls in her community.  As her son went through the local Cub Scout program, she took notice that her daughter not only kept up with most of the boys, but was retaining the same morals, ethics and standards taught along the way.  Of course, with all 5 year old minds, she was prepared to join the Cub Scouts and earn her awards for her achievements.  It was at this time that Jennifer and her husband, Mike Foraker, sought out an organization that would stay true to similar principles, but for girls!

After contacting Kerry Cordy, the Founder of the national program of Frontier Girls, Jennifer and her daughter started the basis of a Troop by requesting a patriotic and symbolic presence in our community to be our Charter, the Keller Firefighters Association.   Upon their acceptance, recruiting began, badges were earned and the leaders in our Troop began to emerge with every meeting.

Frontier Girls Troop 120 is not associated with the Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts of America, however, they do hold true to some of the same values.  Our Troop does utilize Youth Protection Training for all adults involved as a safety procedure for not only the children, but the adult volunteers as well.  Jennifer is trained in many aspects of the Boy Scouts of America program and only wishes to share the knowledge and experience of this association to our Troop, as they have become a true mentor of a sound and successful organization.

It is the hope and vision of our Founder that one day we will look back and realize the impact we made in our young girls lives built a foundation for leaders of the future.
